How To Have The Best Productive Day Working From Home
Working from home can be fun when you are starting, you feel happy because you don’t have anyone telling you what to do, you don’t have to rush to work in the morning and all that.
One disadvantage of working from home is you find yourself procrastinate and not getting work done. If you don’t discipline and checkmate yourself. Like I am so guilty of doing this I procrastinate a lot and I see it is hurting my work goals and it is bad.
With self-discipline and following all the tips below you will be able to conquer and get work done properly and at the right time.
How To Have The Best Productive Day Working From Home
1. Make Your Routine
You have to make a routine for your day, if not every day will just pass quickly without you working or achieving anything. So set a specific time for you to work because you don’t have anybody giving you orders.
Have an alarm set even if you don’t get up at the same time every day, try to make sure it is around the same time every day. This will help your body get used to wakening up around that same time. Of late I find myself waking up between 7 am – 8 am and I don’t even set an alarm.

2. Get Ready
You have to pretend like you are actually leaving your house for work. Do not wear your pajamas all day, change to something nice and comfortable, you can wear jeans and a t-shirt or a co-ord.
This helps put your mind in the right mood for work. So, have breakfast, make your bed, do your makeup, all the things you will do when preparing for work then start work.
3. Have A Designated Work Space
It is very important to have a workspace that has everything you need, so there are no distractions. When you have your designated workspace it feels like your office and you subconsciously know it is time for work when you are there.
However, you can work from your bed if you do not have a desk. While you are working from your bed you have to be more focused because you can easily get distracted. There is a lot of times I try working from my bed and I end up sleeping.
So a trick is to keep your pillow vertically and rest your back. You can also use your pillow to place your laptop on top so it looks like you are sitting at a desk. Likewise, you can use this laptop desk for the bed to place your laptop and all your working materials on top.
4. Have A To-Do List
A to-do list will help you to be productive throughout the whole day. Write down everything you want to accomplish for the day. You can make a work task list and a personal task list then from the list you pick your top 3 priority tasks to be done.
However, if you have a lot of things to get done, you can give yourself 1 hour within your workday to get your personal stuff done as much as you can in that hour.
5. Taking Breaks
This is one tip you must have heard time over time, but taking a break really helps. Just like you have lunch breaks in a normal job you also need a break while working from home.
So whether is getting some snacks, having a tea break, or taking a walk around your home, or a 10-20 minutes nap. You need to rest a bit before you get back to work because you can feel exhausted and your brain may not comprehend things properly.
6. Work Smarter
You have to be intentional with your time, you can get a whole day’s work done in a few hours if you put your mind and heart to it.
Instead of sitting on your desk, bingeing on your phone, or procrastinating on your tasks, you should just get it done. Because you may not always want to work but you have to.
So just get through it and you will find out when you are through you will have more time in the day to get other things done.
7. Do Not Do Things You Wouldn’t Do At Work
This is a big struggle because you are home and you see things that need your attention. Things like dishes, clothes piled up on your bed that needs folding or in the laundry basket you have to wash.
For this reason, a routine and a to-do list will help you allocate time for your work tasks and your personal tasks.
So when it is time for work, solely focus on work-related stuff because if you were at work you won’t be doing any home-related stuff.
8. Maintain A Clean Environment
When you have a clean space it helps keep you productive and focused. If your home or workspace is cluttered you will feel like you have to start cleaning. This can eat into your working time hence I advise you to have a few minutes to clean your house.
Just go through your house and do a speed clean and pick up things the night before. This helps you wake up to a clean home in the morning and you are ready to work.
Also, you can light candles and use your diffuser to make your working space inspiring for you.
9. Set An End Time For Work
It is important to set an end time for work so you are not working longer than you should.
Also, you will have time to attend to your personal needs. Just to keep your work-life balance checked because when you work from home you tend to overwork.
So set a specific time when you stop working and catch up with your personal stuff.
10. Get Enough Sleep
Following the last tip of setting a time to end work, you need to be going to bed on time. You should not binge-watch movies till morning.
Going to bed early helps you get enough sleep which, in turn, helps you wake up early. Then you can go about your day the way you need to in as efficient a way possible.
CONCLUSION
Working from home is not as easy as you think because there is a lot of distractions and if you have kids it is worse. However, if you follow these tips on How To Have The Best Productive Day Working From Home you will get it right.

These are great tips! I especially agree with setting a routine and getting ready. Granted, I change out of my pajamas into sweatpants and a t-shirt, but it still feels like I’m “getting ready” in the morning!
